Easily Attracted

so after spending 4 hours getting our claws (another reason to avoid nail salons-4 hours in a toxic filled room with fluorescent lights is enough to make anyone anxious), we headed straight to our first night market, shi da!!

i was feeling kinda nauseous but just brushed it off, assuming it was just anxiety from being confined in a bright room for so long (not my thing) combined with a rough taxi ride (remember, drivers here are crazy). so we continued & i didn't really say anything. i'm also easily attracted when it comes to shopping, so seeing blocks full of vendors selling jewelry made me forget about it. Until we got to the food...there was one odor that set me over the edge. but i have no idea what it was...i've noticed that (1) Asia has some very distinct smells (2) some of them are unpleasant & (3) it doesn't smell like anything i've smelled before, so i can't even try to define it...so just trust me, it sometimes smells weird.

there was NO way i was gonna embarrass myself in the middle of the market & be the token white girl who can't hang, so we rushed to a familiar place: Starbucks. it took every ounce of concentration in my body to NOT throw up then & there, especially when the line for the bathrooms was so effing long.

you would think that the raw fish, extreme seafood, excessive pork, or some explicitly "asian" foods would have made me so sick...turns out it was the salad nicoise i had for lunch:

don't be fool by its good looks...
fucking french people can't even make a salad right. it's ironic that a french salad made me sick & not pigs feet, octopus balls, or pigs blood cake.

we went back into the night market & again, i was easily attracted to this cool display...even more so to the little doggy waiting on the steps!! one of the cutest dogs we've seen here so far :) we noticed that a lot of people here have little brown poodles (also adorable, unlike the fatty that bit chris)

alluring rabbit

easiest way to get me&mel inside a store? doggy
if only he was on sale
pretty successful night if you ask me, i got a lot of gifts (that shall remain a surprise...) but got these two things for myself :) total was 200 NT, so around $6.50 for a necklace and ring

ram ring & little necklace
ah! i can't forget our dinner (which also totalled around $6 for all three of us)...potstickers for around 18 cents each (this is American cents, so we got 12 for around $2) plus mel and i got wonton soup and chris got beef noodle soup (a Taiwanese "thing").

best 18 cent potstickers a girl could ask for

last but not least, i had to satisfy my sweet tooth--lychee, kiwi, custard, and this weird spiky fruit that's sour (asians and their weird fruit...)

best to worst: lychee, kiwi, and the two chinese ones are tied for worst...so gross  (mel & chris agree..this is not just me being white :p
